The Maitland Hotel was built in 1874 by James O’driscoll. It had one storey and served as a meeting place for local townspeople, who used it as a community hall. The second storey was added later with a large billiard room on the ground floor. When extensive alterations were made in 1950, the single storey section was demolished.

When regulations changed with smoking laws, the Maitland pub decided to build an outdoor area due to not being able to smoke outside. The pokies room has also been transformed into a new modern area.
